Pump Trolley Comedy
A creative collective currently comprised of eight ultra-funny-minds, including no fewer than four former UBCimprov presidents, Pump Trolley is a comedy tsunami. They are focused on providing the very best live sketch show in Western Canada. In addition to their bi-monthly show at the China Cloud Theatre, Pump Trolley has performed at things like the Vancouver International Improv Festival, Olio Festival, Victory Square Block Party and Theatre Under the Gun Fesitval. The Sunday Service
The final word on improv in Vancouver, The Sunday Service is made up of five of the best improvisors in town: Taz Vanrassel, Ryan Beil, Craig Anderson, Aaron Reed and UBCimprov alum Kevin Lee with musical accompaniment from the incomparable Emmett Hall. They perform their trademark combination of short form games and open long form every Sunday. The show is always a blast and special guests from all around North America pop up on a regular basis. Instant Theatre
Instant Theatre has been on the cutting edge of improvisation in Vancouver for the better part of the last two decades. They've recently be-born like a Phoenix and are taking the city by storm. They produce high-quality shows in a variety of styles, offer classes for performers at all levels and now have a new home base called The Instant Shop. Check 'em out!
Vancouver International Improv Festival
Every year, the best improvisers in the world decend on Vancouver to make magic happen. The festival runs for a week every year sometime in September or October. Without hyperbole, this will be the best improv you will see all year, so make sure you see it.
Vancouver Theatre Sports League
VTSL has been at the center of improv in Vancouver for decades. Check out their many high caliber shows featuring current and former members of UBCimprov and other top Vancouver performers. Visit them in their fancy new venue on Granville Island.
Dead Parrots Society
Founded in 1998, Western Washington University's own DEAD PARROTS SOCIETY is WWU's improv comedy troupe. The Parrots are Western students who perform regularly throughout the quarter and around the Pacific Northwest. We perform Improvisational Theatre; the fine art of performing hilarious scenes at the drop of a hat. If you enjoy comedy, gut-wrenching storytelling, and the occasional witty banter, then you need to come out to see the Parrots do what we do best!
